This thing gets earlier and earlier every year. I can understand why it is not on the 4th, but why not the 3rd. This year it is the 28th of JUNE and next year is the 27th of JUNE! Wow.
It is a great show, but I just wish it was near the 4th.
I'm sure you can tell, they hold them the Saturday before the 4th of July. Weekdays are probably not good for this festival as it is pretty much an all day event. I suppose they don't hold it on the 4th so as not to compete with every other festivity.
Attendees should not bring any pet or animal onto the event site other than animals used for the vision impaired. Dogs and other animals can be sensitive to the noise of fireworks and can disturb other event attendees.
