Why would anyone do that? I can blog about anything I want with any language or picture that suits my mood OR I can have someone else assign my topics, censor my opinions and control my language for no compensation. If they want free labor, they should get university interns and give them school credits.

To coin a phrase, "Why pay the cow a salary...?"

I'm the WBIR producer responsible for coordinating our about-to-be-launched blogging efforts, and I wanted to expand on my call for bloggers on our website.
We definitely will be having lots of newsroom folks blogging - people you see on the air. But you will also see some of our online newsroom staff on-air more often. It's going to work in both directions.
We will be offering a blogging platform that anyone can sign up for and use for free, so in that sense, anyone can become a blogger for/at WBIR.com. But some of our bloggers who have a really strong voice and point of view will be featured in a more proactive way - both on our website and on the air. Those are the folks I am looking for right now.
As for paying people, this gig is pretty much akin to being a featured community columnist for a newspaper - traditionally not a paying "job," but something folks do because they like having a platform for their views, voice and opinions. We can offer that, and I am really looking forward to giving wider exposure to some writers who may have been blogging on their own without being discovered by an audience yet.
Let me know if you have any questions, or are interested in getting involved with our efforts to build out our new online community at WBIR.com.
I read the thread ove there and found out that Knoxviews is far left!
Far out man!
Y'all a bunch of dirty f**king pinko commie tree hugging hippies out to destroy truth, justice and THE AMERIKKAN WAY!
Can I join?
Please?
What a maroon. :-)

I see Walker Johnson singin' the praises of KnoxViews at the end of that comment thread. Didja catch it?
